Odes to the Sub-atomic Nature of the Universe

(I think the title of these Odes is going to be longer than the poetry itself!

One of my keen areas of interest is the nature of Time, especially as it relates to Gravity.  Time, when you get to the sub-atomic level, gets tricky.  When we look deep into the sub-atomic world, the universe seems to have gaps in it, across which things jump, including maybe Time.  This leads us to wonder if time (and the universe) exists in packets – with nothing in between.  But if there’s nothing there… then there’s no gap either!  And so it’s a gap that isn’t a gap that….  aieeeee

Here’s the response to that, from the writer in me.  (The first one is with apologies to W. Hughes Mearns.)

When I went alking along sub-atomic stairs,
I saw a gap that wasn’t there.
It wasn’t there again to day.
How I wish that gap would go away!

Bad Syntax
Those gaps.  Those gaps!
Double negatives of the universe.
You can’t not have them!
