Typhoon

TyphoonMy fifth day in Taiwan brought an interesting surprise. I knew before I got here that I wanted to see a typhoon at least once. I have now learned a new meaning for the saying “Be careful what you wish for.”

The power here was knocked out, so we had to light our way with candles last night. Even my friend Kevin, who was born and raised here, had never been through a typhoon as intense. The streets were flooded, and fish from some pond in an unknown location washed up on the front lawn of the apartment complex. (Some people cleaned and cooked them, since they were only an hour or two dead.) Naturally, there was no school today, since busses and trains couldn’t run. At first everyone was excited that they got out of doing work, but then they realized how dependent they were on technology XD

All-in-all it was mayhem, and I think I’ve had my fill of typhoons for a good long while.
I’m okay, though. So no worries, everyone X)
I’ll keep you informed of any more (hopefully less crazy) adventures.

Peace,
Mike
